Hacking increases the chance to apply debuffs and other effects, and Security increases the chance to resist debuffs and other effects.
Example
- Your unit is attacking an enemy and attempting to inflict a debuff e.g. Inferno.
- Your unit has 80 hacking, and the enemy unit has 40 Security.
- This means that 80 hacking - 40 security = 40% chance to apply the debuff.
- Any chance greater than 100% has no additional effects.
This is an example of an effect on a skill that requires hacking to work. The usage of the word “Inflict” signals the need for hacking.
This is an example of an effect on a skill that does not require hacking to work. The usage of the word “Apply” signals that this effect will always work unless used with an affinity disadvantage.
Affinities affect Hacking and effects/ debuffs that do not require hacking to be applied. Check out this article about Affinities to learn more.
